This Week in Patronus Fuel: ‘A Different World’ Homecoming in Honor of HBCUs

This Week in Patronus Fuel is a weekly series to cast a Patronus Charm on your week. Good, happy, heart-warming, soul-affirming stories that cast away dementors, even if just for a moment.

Beyonce isn’t the only one who can cast away the burden of financial hardship faced by HBCUs. The OG HBCU grads, the cast of the hit 90s sitcom A Different World reunited to award $360,000 in grants to nine Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Before the news broke (at least for me), I was already heart-warmed by Jasmine Guy, Cree Summer, Kadeem Harrison, and Darryl M. Bell appearing on Cree Summer’s Instagram singing the show’s theme song. But I thought it was just as friends! They’ve been known to hang out. But to know it was to promote funding for higher education for HBCUs? Even better.

In a week where the fallout from Universal FanCon is still hitting people (with refunds not hitting people’s pockets), everyone’s emotions are all over the place because of Avengers: Infinity War, and apparently slavery was a “choice,” this was the Patronus Fuel we all needed.
