Director, Young Gifted & Black

    Ikera Davis is the Director of Young, Gifted, and Black, a Bay Area based youth organization that teaches Black children Black history through poetry, rap, and freedom songs. She is one of the founding members of YGB and performed with the group from elementary school through high school. She has been on three YGB International Tours, including two trips to Ghana to perform at Emancipation Day. She has two degrees in Social Justice and Sociology. Ikera is an artivist who taps into different creative practices. She paints, writes short stories, is an avid doodler, and enjoys taking pictures.

    Creating with Kids

    Creating can be an important tool for understanding yourself and the world around you, which is why we should encourage and cultivate the creative interests of the young among us. What does it look like to support the creative endeavors of the children in your life? How can we be intentional about supporting the next generation of creators? This is a conversation for anyone with children they love in their life.
