The End of an Era…
After 5 and a half years of deep diving into Harry Potter, going on minutes-long tangents, and enduring Aminata and Luna interruptions, #WizardTeam is going into retirement. We’ve really enjoyed creating this podcast, sharing our love and critiques of the wizarding world, and meeting those of you who joined us on our journey, but we feel now is the time for us to hang it up. Black Girls Create is growing and changing, and while Potter was once a big part of our platform, we feel it no longer serves us or where we want to go in the future—not to mention all of the other fandom and JKR-related things that have slowly sapped away our love of the bespectacled boy.
We’re calling this a retirement because like with Jay-Z, Michael Jordan, and Bayana’s grandmother, it might not be the end. Harry Potter will always have a soft spot in our hearts, a feeling that we hope will grow back to its former glory with some distance and rest. While we didn’t want to shut the door on the podcast completely, we do feel it is time to move onto other projects. We understand that many of you will be sad about a future without #WizardTeam Wednesday, but our old episodes will continue to be up for you to revisit and share with your friends. We hope that you continue to support us in the growth of Black Girls Create, where you can be sure to see more programs celebrating and encouraging Black creators, more original content like the These Bewitching Bonds anthology, and more podcasts where we discuss other topics we’re passionate about.
We also hope you join us on April 14th at 3:30PM PST/6:30PM EST for our final #WizardTeam Wednesday! We’ll hang out with some of the friends we’ve made along the way, answer your questions, and celebrate 275 episodes of #WizardTeam. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer and in the meantime we hope you enjoy these last episodes of the Time Room and let us know your favorite episodes and moments using #WizardTeam on Twitter.

Bayana and Robyn
