Amparo Ortiz is the author of BLAZEWRATH GAMES (Page Street Kids, 2020) and its sequel, DRAGONBLOOD RING (Page Street Kids, 2021). She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and currently lives on the island’s northeastern coast. Her short story comic, “What Remains in The Dark,” appears in the Eisner Award-winning anthology PUERTO RICO STRONG (Lion Forge, 2018). In 2023, she’ll make her middle grade debut with her graphic novel, SAVING CHUPIE (HarperCollins), and next fall, she’ll make her horror debut with OUR SHADOWS HAVE CLAWS (Algonquin Young Readers), an all-Latine anthology she co-edited with Yamile Saied Mendez. She holds an M.A. in English and a B.A. in Psychology. When she’s not teaching ESL to her college students, she’s streaming Kpop music videos, vlogging for her eponymous YouTube channel, and writing about worlds both contemporary and fantastical.
